Upscaled from low-resolution materials, the lines show the typical aliasing and blurring issues. Banding underneath the grain layer is severe, too. We applied descaling and reconstruction to improve the lines, and strong de-banding along with some protective measures to the planes.
Season 2 and the movies have a much better picture quality. Although the native resolution remains 720p, the definition is much higher, and the banding is greatly reduced. PP again used descaling and reconstruction on the lines, milder de-banding, and finished with routine adaptive denoising to protect the texts.
